I always like a fresh, new steering wheel and am a fan of Key!s Racing in Japan. They produce a range of steering wheels and I decided to go for the 325mm Flat Leather version. KEY’S Racing was born from the collaboration between Italian steering wheel manufacturer ATC and the inspirational mind of professional driver Kinoshita Takayuki.
I have also like the idea of a quick release system. Originally, I was going to go for the NRG version but decided to go for the true JDM Works Bell Rapfix II version… the NRG is a copy of this one. I also combined this with a Works Bell short hub.
Overall, I am really pleased with the install. The Works Bell kit comes with all of the necessary hardware including grounding plates, wiring, hub mounting screws and steering wheel mounting screws. My only issue was with the Key!s Racing Horn Push that doesn’t have a spade connector for the ground. Easily sorted if you’re handy with a soldering iron!
In my normal driving position my wrists just pass the top of the steering wheel, as per standard guidelines. The quick release system is easy to use and is solid once in position. It also adds extra security when the vehicle is parked at home or in storage.
